Oloop in collaboration with MGLC
in co-creation with Immigrant Women
20 October – 5 November 2021
MGLC Švicarija, Ljubljana
As part of the Active Relations project II, the Oloop Collective has worked with migrant women for the third year in a row. In the exhibition I am Not Alone it presents their hand-embroidered self-portraits, graphic works and a short film by Ciril Jazbec / TENT Film.
We will meet immigrant women who have come to Slovenia from different parts of the world – Iraq, Iran, Syria, Morocco, Turkey, Kosovo, Northern Macedonia, Bosnia and other countries. Their creative work can be understood as an intimate and at the same time public act through which they share a piece of themselves with us and at the same time invite us to do the same.
In the short film I Am Not Alone, we see the moving and inspiring story of Azadeh Hashemzadeh, an Iranian artist. The film is a production of TENT Film directed by Ciril Jazbec, cinematographer Sašo Štih and editor Angelo Raaijmakers.
The project and the exhibition were realised in cooperation with MGLC – International Centre of Graphic Arts under the direction of museum consultant Lili Šturm and are part of the educational accompanying programme of the 34th Graphic Biennial Ljubljana: Iskra Delta.
The exhibition I am Not Alone is part of the three-year project Active Relations II, led by the Association Odnos with its partner, the Oloop Institute. The exhibition was financially supported by: the European Social Fund, the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and JSKD.
