I am not Alone presents hand-embroidered self-portraits of women who have come to Slovenia from different parts of the world - Iraq, Iran, Syria, Morocco, Turkey, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Bosnia, Serbia, Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan. The creation of the self-portrait was an intimate, personal event, but as it took place in the group, it was also a shared artistic act that helped the artist move from feelings of loneliness and separation to feelings of connection and belonging. Through the creative activities of the Oloop collective, the women were able to reconnect with themselves and each other. They became more psychologically resilient and self-confident.
